Gov-Her-Nance
Accountability Lab, in collaboration with the Department of Health KP, implemented the Gov-HER-Nance project in December 2021 in three districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Mardan, Nowshera, and Peshawar.
The project aimed to strengthen the voice of marginalized women in matters affecting their well-being and sense of agency, to shift policies that relate to issues affecting their lives and health during the COVID-19 pandemic or any future health emergencies. It also aimed to improve the delivery of support services by national and provincial authorities to strengthen the long-term resilience of marginalized populations, especially women, to the ongoing pandemic and future health emergencies. Additionally, the project aimed to increase awareness among marginalized populations regarding COVID-19-related health and hygiene practices, and available support services and programs.
The project engaged over 2,500 women and over 1.5 million indirect beneficiaries from the most vulnerable communities in the project districts through interventions including capacity-building workshops for local women focusing on leadership, communication, and advocacy skills. It also engaged stakeholders in countering misinformation and managing media for awareness-raising. The project provided communication and outreach support to the Department of Health in KP through digital media and radio campaigns, town hall meetings for effective community engagement and feedback, and community awareness sessions with local women and elders to counter misinformation regarding COVID-19.
